Decision to grant an electricity generation licence for Kells BES Limited

On 7 April 2022 the Utility Regulator gave notice that it proposed to grant an electricity generation licence to Kells BES Limited with a copy of the form of licence proposed to be granted published alongside the Notice. Kells BES Limited intends to operate a grid connected battery energy storage system (BESS) at Doagh Road, Kells, BT42 3PP.

One individual response was received at the close of the consultation period. Following consideration of the representation received, the Utility Regulator has decided to grant - and has, on 13 May 2022, granted - an electricity generation licence to Kells BES Limited in the form of the licence published alongside the Notice.  The licence is granted pursuant to the provisions of Article 10 (1) of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992. A copy of the licence is published alongside our decision.
