Maximum Resale Price of Electricity

The Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland, Douglas McIldoon, today announced that for the year commencing 1 April 2000, the new maximum total price at which landlords can resell electricity to their domestic tenants will be 9.03p (which includes VAT at 5%) for each unit of electricity supplied.

The price is based on the domestic tariff structure published by Northern Ireland Electricity plc. In line with last year, the Director General has decided to adopt NIE’s new single rate Home Tariff as the basis for setting the MRP. This will make the MRP easier to understand and calculate.
