Cancellation of Generating Unit Agreements - Update

The Utility Regulator has been consulting on Generating Unit Agreements (GUAs) during 2011.

An initial consultation paper, setting out the Regulator’s initial views on issues and factors informing the decision-making process on GUAs was published in March.  A further period of consultation followed in September, which set out the Regulator’s minded-to decision . 

After considering all responses to the consultations, having undertaken detailed economic analysis and sensitivity analysis (most recently using up-to-date commodity prices) and after considering relevant policy issues, the Utility Regulator has decided to keep the GUAs under review, with a decision paper expected in early 2012.
