The Utility Regulator, under Article 8(4) of the Gas (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 as amended, proposes to extend the licence area of Phoenix Natural Gas Limited. This includes consultation for the necessary associated proposed conveyance licence modifications.

The Utility Regulator, under Article 8(4) of the Gas (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 as amended, proposes to extend the licence area of Phoenix Natural Gas Limited. This includes consultation for the necessary associated proposed conveyance licence modifications.

The proposed extension and modification relate to the area of East Down and comprises of 13 towns. It will allow for the construction of the pipeline infrastructure necessary to facilitate the conveyance of gas to domestic and commercial properties in the vicinity of those towns.

The capital investment for the overall life of the project is upwards of £58 million and over time will make gas available to around 27,000 domestic and commercial customers within the towns of Annahilt, Ballygowan, Ballynahinch, Castlewellan, Crossgar, Downpatrick, Dromore, Drumaness, Dundrum, Hillsborough, Newcastle, Saintfield and The Spa.

This investment is another example of the continuing growth and success of the natural gas industry in Northern Ireland.
