The Utility Regulator today publishes a paper entitled “Gas Network Extensions in Northern Ireland – Discussion Paper on Options for an Award of Licence Process and Regulatory process” .

The paper itself considers (a) the design of a competitive process for the award of the licence(s) necessary to extend the natural gas network (b) the regulatory regime for both transmission and distribution assets that would be set out in this licence(s) and (c) consideration of options for the policy on network extension.

The closing date for comments on the paper is Wednesday 27 June 2012. Interested parties should also note that the Utility Regulator intends to host a workshop on the issues raised in the paper during the week commencing 4 June 2012 (details to follow).
