Call for evidence on back billing in the NI retail energy market

Today the Utility Regulator (UR) publishes a call for evidence to commence its ‘Back billing in the NI Retail Energy Market’ project. Back bills have the potential to cause significant financial hardship, as well as subjecting the recipients to varying degrees of inconvenience and stress.

The call for evidence is to assist the UR in forming an understanding of the current extent of back billing issues in the NI energy market and the impact or potential impact on both domestic consumers and micro-businesses. It will be followed in due course with a consultation exploring the options for dealing with back bills.

The call for evidence includes a separate Excel questionnaire for respondents to complete.

We are seeking responses by 25 July 2018.
