Today the Utility Regulator publishes its decision to certify Premier Transmission Ltd (PTL) and Belfast Gas Transmission Ltd (BGTL) as fully ownership unbundled entities under 3(2) of the European Gas Regulation (EC) No 715/2009.
The unbundling provisions seek to achieve greater independence of transmission (ownership and operation of transmission systems) from generation, production and/or supply activities.
This follows applications by PTL and BGTL for certification under Articles 9 and 10 of the Gas Directive 2009/73/EC.
