Decision to grant an electricity generation licence to Belfast Energy Storage Company Limited

On 11 August 2021, the Utility Regulator gave notice (the Notice) that it proposed to grant an electricity generation licence to Belfast Energy Storage Company Limited, with a copy of the form of licence proposed to be granted published alongside the Notice. Belfast Energy Storage Company Limited intends to operate a grid connected battery energy storage system (BESS) at Lands at Lisnabreeny Road East, Belfast BT6 9SS.

One individual response was received at the close of the consultation period. Following consideration of representation received, the Utility Regulator has decided to grant - and has, on 9 November 2021, granted - an electricity generation licence to Belfast Energy Storage Company Limited in the form of the licence published alongside the Notice. The licence is granted pursuant to the provisions of Article 10(1) of the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.  A copy of the licence is published alongside our decision.
