Decision published on obligations placed on Northern Ireland’s Transmission System Operators

The Utility Regulator has published a decision on the obligations placed on the Transmission System Operators (TS0) of Northern Ireland.

We previously consulted on the allocation of the various obligations placed on TSOs in Northern Ireland (Moyle Interconnector Limited, System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI) and NIE Networks) by the specific regulations within each of the network codes.

Where more than one TSO exists within a Member State (as is the case in Northern Ireland) there is a clause within each network code, which allows Member States to provide responsibility to specific TSOs to comply with the network code obligations.

As part of the consultation, we detailed our minded to position in terms of the allocation of roles and responsibilities. We received three responses from SONI, Moyle Interconnector Limited and NIE Networks.

We have now published annexes that identifies the multiple TSO clauses within each of the network codes, along with our decision on the Member State TSO(s), that should comply with each section of the network code.
