We are now seeking to recruit a number of key roles which offer the opportunity to take responsibility and shape the culture of our team and protect consumers through excellence in regulatory practice.

This is a unique opportunity to embark on an exciting and rewarding career with Ofreg, the utility Regulator for Northern Ireland. The organisation’s remit currently includes the electricity and gas industries and will be expanded to take responsibility for the water and sewage industry from April 2007. A programme of change and restructuring has opened these new positions. They offer opportunities for forward thinking individuals to work in a progressive, mixed public-sector/private-sector team making a substantial contribution to a new regulatory regime.

Director - Water Regulation
REF: ODW/07 £ 60 – 85K

You will be a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting to the CEO. You will lead and manage Ofreg’s work on water, notably the creation of regulatory structures and the first price control.

Applicants must:
­ Have a proven track record within the water industry, operating at a senior level in industry, consultancy or government/regulation.

Head of Finance and Administration
REF: OFA/07 £ 30 – 40K

As part of the Corporate Affairs team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a finance, HR and administration operations branch which will provide effective support services to the organisation. You will also be responsible for the management of a number of staff in providing support services.

Applicants must:
­ Have proven experience at management level within the government, private or voluntary sectors.

Head of Regulatory Finance (Water)
REF: ORF/07 £ 40 – 55K

As head of the water group’s regulatory finance branch, you will manage a number of staff to monitor the regulated company’s financial and business plans. Your work will be fundamental to setting price controls and you will be a key member of the water regulation management team.

Applicants must:
  Have proven experience at management level of accounting/finance issues, preferably in regulatory finance, and preferably in the water industry.


Head of Customer Complaints
REF: OCC/07 £ 30 – 40K

As Head of Customer Complaints, you will work with a number of internal and external stakeholders to resolve complaints & disputes within our jurisdiction and oversee our complaints system. This will encompass electricity, gas and water groups.

Applicants must:
­ Have proven experience at management level in a customer complaints role focused on service delivery. This will be either in government, the private or voluntary sector.

Analysts (Water)
REF: OAN/07 £ 30 – 40K

Working within the water group’s regulatory finance branch, you will analyse and advise on the regulated company’s financial and business plans.

Applicants must:
Have proven experience of accounting/finance issues, preferably in regulatory finance, and preferably in the water industry

Legal Consultant
REF OLC/07 £ 45 - £50K

As part of the Legal Department, you will provide expert legal advice to the Head of Legal Department and CEO relating to the multi-disciplinary work of Ofreg. You will also jointly develop an Ofreg legal strategy ensuring it meets the needs of a best practice multi-discipline regulator in NI.

Applicants must:
­ Have a recognised legal qualification (an overseas qualification is only acceptable if it is fully comparable with the required United Kingdom degree)
­ Be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister
­ Flexible and contract working arrangements will be considered
