The Utility Regulator regulates the gas prices that SSE Airtricity Gas Supply (in the Greater Belfast and West areas) and firmus energy (in the Ten Towns area) charge their domestic and small business customers. We also regulate the electricity price for Power NI’s domestic customers. We refer to these as the regulated gas and electricity tariffs.
This regulation means we continuously monitor the various costs that make up these regulated tariffs. Then, when necessary, we approve any resulting change to the tariffs.
A formal review of the regulated tariffs of firmus energy and SSE Airtricity Gas Supply has now commenced. It is expected that the reviews will conclude by the end of August and announcements on the outcome will follow soon after.
The Power NI tariff is not included in this formal review; however, we will continue to monitor this.
