Utility Regulator welcomes reduction in water and sewerage charges for businesses

Following the announcement by NI Water that water and sewerage charges for businesses will be reduced by an average of 2.7%, Jo Aston, director of water at the Utility Regulator said,

“As the independent economic regulator of NI Water, our job is to ensure that water and sewerage consumers receive value for money services.  Today’s announcement by NI Water is good news for businesses, especially considering the financial pressures on their budgets.

“We monitor and approve NI Water’s regulated water and sewerage charges by carrying out a review of the company’s annual Scheme of Charges submission. We strongly believe that the price paid for water and sewerage services must reflect the actual cost of delivering these services to business properties and that charges are fair to all customers.”

The annual charges announced by NI Water reflect the price limits set in the recently accepted PC13 – the price control for 2013-2015. The 2013/14 Scheme of Charges is the first year of the PC13 Final Determination.
