EP NI Energy: Provisional Orders

On 24 September 2025, the Utility Regulator (UR), operating on behalf of the SEM Committee, issued two provisional orders on the Electricity generator, EP NI Energy Ltd (EPNIE) pursuant to Article 42 of the Energy (Northern Ireland) Order 2003.

The provisional orders were made as it appeared to the UR that EPNIE was likely to contravene its electricity generation licence (the Licence).

The first provisional order involves Conditions 4 and 14 of the Licence and the EPNIE’s compliance with the Grid Code and Trading and Settlement Code. The second provisional order involves Condition 17 of the Licence and a likely failure to comply with directions issued by the UR under that condition.

The provisional orders came into effect at 18:00 on 24 September 2025 and will lapse on 18:00 hours on 23 December 2025 unless confirmed by the UR.
