The recent SONI tariff process in 2025 has highlighted a small number of revenue issues which merit consideration. This includes the ring-fencing of monies collected for a potential liability arising from Clean Energy Package (CEP) costs and treatment of the k-factor interest rate.
The Utility Regulator has published a public consultation and notice under Article 14 of the Electricity (NI) Order 1992 on proposed modifications to SONI’s transmission licence. These modifications are designed to address any potential concerns. The revenue formula licence modifications will allow ring-fencing of CEP costs. We also propose to adjust the k-factor interest rate application from one to two years.
We welcome industry and stakeholder views and comments on the outlined licence modifications proposals and their effect.
