Launch of the 2026 Non-domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey results

The Utility Regulator has published key findings from our fourth Non-domestic Consumer Insight Tracker Survey. These findings accompany the full report prepared by Perceptive Insight.

The research is vitally important to our work and allows us to measure and track the experiences, attitudes and behaviours of non-domestic consumers in the energy market over time.

We also use the results to directly inform our regulatory policies and consumer protection work.

This latest survey was carried out between November and December 2025 with a representative sample of 500 non-domestic consumers in Northern Ireland.

Areas covered in the survey include financial issues, understanding of the energy market, switching, communication, complaint handling and satisfaction.

Some key headline findings are:

  • Since the previous survey, results show that non-domestic consumers are more satisfied with the services from their energy supplier, and more are now trusting their supplier to give clear information and charge a fair price. 80% of electricity and 77% of gas consumers reported being satisfied with the service they received from their supplier.
  • Non-domestic consumer knowledge of energy suppliers and awareness of the ability to choose between suppliers and tariffs have both improved. 80% stated they have complete awareness of being able to choose between multiple energy suppliers and 79% of being able to choose between multiple tariff types.

Key findings from the survey are summarised in our highlight report and infographic. We have also published the full report.
