Job description

Working within the Wholesale Energy Directorate, you will head and manage a small team of analysts and provide analysis, research and policy advice relating to the regulation of the wholesale electricity sector.  

You will work across a variety of functions and contribute to the delivery of the Utility Regulator’s aims and objectives by analysing and advising on issues relating to the regulation of the electricity sector. 

You will oversee the Market Monitoring Unit. The strength and success of the Wholesale Directorate is due to flexibility of both managers and analysts to cover all areas of work so as to have a holistic understanding of the complex Single Electricity Market. Consequently the successful candidate may be required to oversee other work areas.

Essential Criteria

  1. Proven experience of analysing and monitoring electricity or energy wholesale market specific issues and delivering significant outcomes for shareholders and/or consumers.
  2. Proven experience of analysing large data sets and making decisions based on the sound analysis of complex and/or conflicting information.
  3. Proven experience of playing a leading role in teams to deliver high quality outputs in a complex environment.
  4. Proven experience of influencing others to make decisions by presenting information persuasively and experience of critically evaluating and challenging different points of view.
