Care Registers Review: Final Decisions Paper published

The Utility Regulator today is publishing the final decisions paper on our review of network company care registers. This follows our consultation carried out in July 2017.

In our Consumer Protection Strategy we made a commitment to review care registers. These registers are for customers in potentially vulnerable circumstances who require additional and special services. Electricity, gas and water companies all provide certain services to vulnerable customers who choose to be included on care registers. A review of Northern Ireland Electricity Networks and Northern Ireland Water care registers is covered by this paper. The care registers of the gas network companies, gas and electricity suppliers will be reviewed in a subsequent project.

We have engaged with both industry and stakeholders in producing our final decisions paper. We appreciate this level of response from our stakeholders.

This paper provides our final decisions in regards to the 10 proposals that were consulted upon in July 2017.

We received 10 responses to our consultation.

The final decisions paper sets out each of the 10 proposals, highlighting the feedback we received from consultees and how this has been incorporated into each of the decisions taken.

A period of implementation will now take place, which we will monitor.
