The Utility Regulator has published a decision document setting out our approach to the next price control for Northern Ireland’s gas transmission network. This price control, referred to as GT27, covers the period 1 October 2027 to 30 September 2032.
GT27 will determine the level of revenue and allowances for the gas transmission system operators (TSOs) that will enable them to continue operating the gas network safely and efficiently, as well as supporting government decarbonisation goals.
Our approach decision sets the structure, form and duration of the price control, operating costs levels/replacement expenditure and other proposed changes in relation to energy transition allowances and inflation. It also addresses considerations on remuneration and risk.
This document also sets out a timetable for the process of reaching the final determination.
Our objective is to ensure inclusive engagement and transparency throughout the process.
Publication of our approach decision follows on from our consultation on the proposed approach to GT27, published on 5 November 2025. We received four responses to the consultation that have been published.
Having considered these responses, we are now publishing our GT27 Approach Decision, together with the stakeholder responses.
The TSOs will submit their GT27 Business Plans in June 2026 and we intend to publish a draft determination for the GT27 price control for consultation in November 2026. The requirements and templates for the business plans are published in parallel with this document.
Copies of all documents can be made available in large print, Braille, audio cassette and a variety of relevant minority languages if required.
