The Utility Regulator has published our Final Approach document for the next price control review, known as SPC27, for the price-controlled gas supply companies: Firmus Energy (Supply) and SSE Airtricity Gas (NI).
The Final Approach document takes account of the responses received to our consultation on the Draft Approach, which was published in July 2025. We received three responses to the consultation and appreciate the time taken by our stakeholders to respond and contribute to developing this approach.
The three consultation responses are available below:
The Final Approach outlines our position for setting the structure, form and duration of the price control, scope and coverage of regulated tariffs, operating costs levels/allocations and proposed approach to margin.
The purpose of SPC27 is to set an efficient level of revenue for Firmus Energy (Supply) and SSE Airtricity Gas Supply (NI) which they collect through their regulated gas tariffs.
This document is part of a suite of documents that we will publish relating to the price controls under the SPC27 project.
The next step in this process is that the companies will submit their SPC27 proposals in January 2026, from which we will develop our draft determinations for consultation.
Copies of all documents can be made available in large print, Braille, audio cassette and a variety of relevant minority languages if required.
