The changes will affect generators of electricity who want to connect to NIE’s distribution system. This includes small scale generation.
The proposals amend the technical standards that generators (including those smaller than 5MW) need to comply with in order to be accepted onto the electricity distribution system. Generators who fail to comply with the relevant standards (following testing by NIE) may be disconnected from the system in order to ensure the stability and security of the network for all users.
