Regulator announces outcome of auction for Non Fossil Fuel (NFF) capacity

The Electricity Regulator today announced the result of a capacity auction held to allocate rights to the output from Non Fossil Fuel generating sources, which are under contract to NIE as part of the Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation Orders I and II. The rights to output from 40 blocks of 1 MW each were allocated to the following successful bidders:

Energia

ESB

NIE Supply

The auction was over-subscribed. The reserve bid price was set at 3.8p/kWh (based on output from the capacity blocks). The auction was operated on a pay-as-bid basis.

The average bid price at which the auction cleared was 4.613 p/kWh.

The capacity has been allocated for the period 1 April 2002 to 31 March 2003.
