Utility Regulator publishes Forward Work Programme 2009-10

The Utility Regulator today published its Forward Work Programme (FWP) for 2009-10. The Utility Regulator has a statutory duty to publish the FWP before the commencement of the financial year.

The Forward Work Programme sets out the projects which the Regulator intends to undertake in the forthcoming year.

In advance of publication, the Utility Regulator carried out extensive consultation with stakeholders (which included consulting on the Corporate Strategy). The consultation responses received were considered in the compilation of the final FWP.

Several priority work streams are identified in the FWP.  These include undertaking timely and effective price control exercises – notably in relation to NI Water; fostering enhanced level of competitive pressures in both the wholesale and retail markets; helping deliver environmental sustainability through actions arising from a major consultation on the Regulator’s role in this area;  fostering further co-operation with other regulators.

Performance against the targets outlined in the FWP will be set out in the Utility Regulator’s Annual Report 2009-10.

The publication can be viewed on this website or alternatively a paper copy can be obtained from Ian Campbell, the Utility Regulator, Queens House, 14 Queen Street, Belfast, BT1 6ER. Tel: 028 9031 6628.

Copies of the document will be made available in large print, Braille, audio cassette and a variety of relevant minority languages if required.
