Summary

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment is currently consulting on the proposed method of implementation in Northern Ireland of EU Electricity Directive 2003/54/EC concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity and repealing Directive 96/92/EC, and of Regulation 1228/2003 concerning conditions for access to the network for cross-border exchanges in electricity.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment is currently consulting on the proposed method of implementation in Northern Ireland of EU Electricity Directive 2003/54/EC concerning common rules for the internal market in electricity and repealing Directive 96/92/EC, and of Regulation 1228/2003 concerning conditions for access to the network for cross-border exchanges in electricity. A copy of the consultation paper can be accessed on the Department’s website. The Directive will be implemented through a combination of Regulations made under section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and modifications to electricity licences.
