Electricity Connections review decision and licence modification consultation

A connections market which works well for Northern Ireland electricity consumers is essential. Getting connected easily and at a fair price is important for domestic and business consumers and generators. This should happen in way which means other network consumers only pay what is necessary for their energy.

We published a consultation on 3 April 2017. We received 20 responses. Responses to the connection review consultation have also been published.

Today we have published our decision. It sets how extensions should be treated, our clarifications on NIE Network’s and SONI’s ability to refuse to provide connection offers, and next steps on other connections issues.

We also publish a consultation on changes to NIE Network’s Electricity Distribution Licence. We welcome responses to this by Thursday 28 June 2017.
